About this work
The Living Mirror 1929 shows two figures facing each other inside a mirror frame, painted in the flat colours and plain fields that Rene Magritte used throughout his surrealist painting practice. The picture keeps a calm distance between the shapes, and the eyes notice the plain painted fields first.
This fine art print uses a white frame finish. That clean white edge sits cleanly against the plain sky ground and gives the image a defined border on the wall.
It fits well on the wall beside the reading lamp in a bedroom study corner. From the desk you see the two flat colour figures, and the white frame edge stays in view when you lean back.
