About this work
The Mountain le Canigou 1921 shows a long ridge of rock rising into the sky, painted in a clear cubist style. Juan Gris breaks the mountain into separate planes of colour that read more like a diagram than a view. The slopes are built from flat colour and thin drawn lines.
This fine art print is ready to hang on arrival. The frame comes in white, wood, dark wood or black. A white frame sits quietly against those land colours, while a black frame gives the edge a sharper line. The frame gives the picture a clear edge on the wall.
In a hallway with a north facing wall, the long ridge runs across the eye and the separate colour planes stay clear. A black frame keeps the outline firm from that distance.
