The Nightingale 1962 by Rene Magritte

The Nightingale 1962 shows a plain painted field with a small bird shape set near the centre. The eye enters on that shape, then rests on the empty painted ground around it. A nightingale is the subject.

This product is a fine art print set in a frame with a back panel. The paper surface is matte, so the soft painted tones stay even and do not shine when a lamp is nearby. The frame holds the print flat and the back panel covers the rear.

It hangs in a narrow hallway where one light source washes the painted bird shape. From the bedroom door you notice the calm painted field first, then the small bird sitting still against the empty painted ground.
