About this work
The Port of le Havre 1906 sets a harbour scene in cool blues and soft greys beside a warm cream ground. The water line sits low and the boats stay small and thin. Raoul Dufy keeps the colour notes spare and the sky stays open.
A white frame finish sits flat against those cool tones and gives the picture a clear edge on the wall. The dark boats read sharper against that white wood, and the fine art sheet hangs clean on its own.
In a narrow hallway with a single bulb over the top step, the blue water catches the light and the thin boat lines stay easy to follow from the landing.
