Thersites Chastened — Fine Art

Thersites Chastened - 2012 by Ron Gorchov opens on a long horizontal band of paint laid across the sheet. The eye enters on the left and moves slowly to a heavy mark on the right. Space sits open beyond the band. You read the form first, then the softness of the paint.

This fine art print keeps the soft paint edges as they sit in the original. A wood frame gives the picture a clear edge on the wall, so the band does not lose its shape against the wall.

It works on a bedroom wall near a plain lamp. From the foot of the bed you see the long band and the open space. You notice the soft paint first, then the wood edge at the side.
