About this work
Timaeus III and IV - 1966 by Alfred Jensen places numbered squares in rows across a painted field. The rows step up and down in short colour changes.
The work belongs to geometric abstraction and uses a hard edge colour pattern. You can trace each step from one row to the next. The fine art print keeps the painted number squares clear and the colours stay flat under a lamp.
A dark frame on a pale wall lets the grid read without extra shine. It sits on the stairwell wall where the steps match the rising rows. From the landing you see the pattern of numbers across the field.
