Transection No. 7 — Fine Art

Transection No. 7 - 1970 keeps a measured mark in the center of a quiet field. The work uses paint and line in the way Clarence Holbrook Carter often worked, with controlled bands and a soft ground. The line reads as a single cut across the tone.

A fine art print set in a frame with a back panel shows the paint surface in a flat tone. The matte paper holds the grey and cream without shine. The frame and back panel keep the print rigid when you hang it ready to hang.

A hallway landing with a pale wall holds the print across the narrow space. From the stair steps you read the central band first, then the softer ground around it. The frame gives the picture a clear edge where the wall ends.
