About this work
Two Blues 2003 by Bridget Riley sets two broad colour bands across the sheet. The bands step in tone from one side to the other. The shapes read as flat colour with no hard edge. From a doorway the two tones sit apart. Step nearer and the boundary between them becomes the main point.
The fine art frame comes in white, wood, dark wood or black. A clear frame edge sits against the two colour areas and gives the sheet a firm line on the wall. The finish you pick changes how the edge meets the bands.
On a hallway wall the two tones read as a simple step of value. You notice the shift in the colour as you pass by. It keeps the wall clear and leaves room for the eye to move along it.
