About this work
Untitled 1930 2 shows a painted line that bends through open space on a pale ground. The shape follows the simple curve that Alexander Calder used in his mobiles and stabiles. You see one main stroke and a plain background.
The fine art print comes ready to hang. The white frame gives the picture a clear edge on the wall. That edge sets the painted line apart from the room around it. The white finish also keeps the pale ground from looking washed out.
It works on a dining room wall near the table. From the chair you see the broad curve first, and from the doorway you notice the thin painted line against the pale field.
