About this work
Untitled 1934 shows a single painted form cut from sheet metal, sitting on a plain ground. The form leans to one side and leaves open space around it. Alexander Calder made these cut out pieces to hold their own weight without a stand.
The fine art print arrives ready to hang, with a metal hanger fitted to the back that goes straight onto a nail or screw. You do not need to buy a frame. The metal hanger keeps the sheet flat against the wall.
In a hallway with a narrow passage, you see the pale ground first and the painted form later. The form reads as a simple cut out shape, drawn from the kinetic sculpture practice of Alexander Calder.
