About this work
Untitled - 1960 sits in the mid century Indian art scene. Nasreen Mohamedi made measured pencil and ink drawings with repeated lines, grids and small turns of the hand. The picture stays quiet and close to what you can count.
The fine art print is on matte paper, so the grey lines do not shine under a lamp. The paper keeps the soft pencil tones flat and even. You can hang this fine art print at a height where the lines sit level with your view, so the spacing reads clear.
It fits a study wall above a desk, with the desk light falling across the lower part. From the doorway you notice the repeated intervals first, then the small stops between them. The room stays still while the drawing holds its own order.
