About this work
Untitled - 1960 shows flat colour blocks placed in a grid across the picture. The artist Ray Parker built the image from rectangles of red and blue and white.
The shapes sit next to each other without blending. Ray Parker made this kind of hard edge painting through the nineteen fifties and sixties.
The fine art print sits inside a frame with a back panel and arrives ready to hang. The flat colours stay sharp on the matte paper, so the grid reads clearly instead of softening. You see the separate colour blocks most easily when you stand at the end of a hall and look at the wall.
