Untitled - 1963 by John Ferren shows a painted field built up through layers of brushwork. Broad strokes cross a muted tone field and the paint sits in a few soft bands. The marks move across the sheet without a clear subject. You see the hand of the maker in the uneven edges.

This is a fine art print set in a frame with a back panel. The paper stays matte so the paint tones stay soft and there is no shine under a lamp. When the ready to hang option is used it arrives assembled.

On a study desk wall it sits near a lamp and the painted bands hold their tone from that distance. From the door the broad strokes read as a simple field, closer up the crossing lines show the layered paint.
