Untitled 1964 sets a few quick brush marks against an open field. The strokes sit near the centre and thin out toward the edges, leaving a pale ground to show through. Luis Feito worked with paint in a loose way, often letting one layer fall short of the next.

The fine art frame in white sets a clean line against the pale ground. The white edge keeps the picture from sinking into a busy room. You can see the paper grain under the paint when the light hits it from the side.

In a kitchen against a ceramic tile wall the marks read as small strokes from the fridge doorway. Near the counter the paint sits as a soft layer, and the white frame stays clear when the overhead light turns on.
