About this work
Untitled - 1969 shows a painted field with broad strokes and a few mixed colours. The hand of Jiro Yoshihara moves across the sheet with a gestural touch.
The fine art print runs the image on a matte sheet, so the paint marks stay soft and the light tones do not shine under a lamp. The white frame gives the picture a clean edge that separates the painted area from the wall and keeps the colours readable.
Hang it in a hallway with a long stretch of wall and a steady light from above. From the doorway you see the broad painted shapes first, and up close the small colour shifts in the paint show through. The frame keeps the picture clear on the wall.
