Untitled - 1973 by Norman Bluhm shows a painted field with broad sweeping strokes across the sheet. The bristles leave ridges and lighter trails where the paint runs thin. A few darker patches gather near the lower edge and the rest stays open.

A fine art print carries those painted marks on a matte sheet so the greys hold a soft look and no glare comes back from a lamp. The frame finish can follow the room, so a light frame sits on a dark wall or a wood frame goes beside wooden furniture.

It hangs on the stairwell wall beside a clock where the handrail casts a narrow shadow. From the landing you read the broad strokes first, then the thin trails and the darker patches lower down.
