Untitled — Fine Art

Untitled - 1984 by Donald Judd sets a row of equal rectangular shapes against a plain ground. The shapes sit in a straight line with even gaps between them, painted in solid colour with clean edges.

The fine art frame follows the room you choose. A pale frame sits on a dark wall, a dark frame on a pale wall, or a wood frame beside wood furniture. That simple match keeps the line of shapes clear without crowding them.

It works well on a stairwell wall where the steps change the viewing height. From the landing you read the whole line, and from a lower step you see one block at a time. The clean edges hold up under the dim hall light.
