Untitled — Fine Art

The painting Untitled - 2006 by Ralston Crawford places flat colour bands against a quiet ground. The painted edges meet at sharp corners, and each band sits beside the next without blending.

The surface holds a steady pressure across the sheet. In the fine art print the frame finish can follow the room, so a dark frame on a pale wall keeps the hard edges clear.

A narrow stairwell works well for this picture. The flat bands stay readable from the landing, and the sharp corners hold their shape under the overhead light.
