Untitled 2007 1 — Fine Art

Untitled 2007 1 by Luis Feito holds marks made with quick strokes of opaque paint. The eye finds a loose cluster near the centre, then drifts into open space. The black lines and colour patches read as separate gestures on the wall.

The fine art print uses matte paper so the grey tones stay soft without shine. The frame in white, wood, dark wood or black gives the picture a clear edge on the wall. That edge helps the strokes stand apart from the room around them.

It works on a bedroom wall beside a plain lamp. From the doorway the broad strokes read first, and from the bed the small paint marks come into view. The dark shapes sit quietly against the light ground.
