Untitled — Fine Art

Broad horizontal bands of paint cover the sheet in Untitled - 2007. The brushwork moves in slow sweeps, with softer tones near the centre and harder pressure at the ends. Gunther Forg built his practice on colour and plain fields, so the marks stay open and read as gesture rather than detail.

This fine art print is ready to hang on arrival. The frame finishes in white, wood, dark wood or black, and that clean edge gives the painted field a clear border on the wall. A white finish keeps the lighter bands soft, while a dark wood finish lets the heavier strokes stand apart.

On a bedroom wall near the ceiling, the wide bands read from the doorway before you walk in. Up close the brush marks show where the paint slowed and where it lifted off the brush.
