About this work
Untitled Floral Abstraction 1970 shows a loose arrangement of floral shapes set against a steady background. Alma Woodsey Thomas spreads small colour units in rows, so the flowers read as clusters rather than single blooms. From across the room the blocks hold together as one field.
This fine art print arrives ready to hang, with a metal hanger on the back that fits straight onto a nail or screw. No separate frame is needed. The matte paper keeps the small colour units flat, so the rows do not glare under a lamp.
It works on a warm wall in a kitchen, above a table where you set down a cup and read the paper. From the doorway the colour band pulls the eye toward the centre. Close up the small units sit in their rows, quiet and held.
