About this work
Broad colour shapes sit on a plain ground in Untitled from the Shapes of Colour - 1978 by Patrick Heron. The picture reads as a set of painted rectangles and soft edges that push and pull across the surface.
The artist built his work from colour placed side by side, letting each shape change the one next to it. This fine art piece is a print set in a frame with a back panel. The frame holds the image steady and the back panel keeps it flat.
You can hang it ready to hang when the option is used. A dining room wall works well for it. From the table you see the colour blocks in a row, and the painted shapes seem to step forward and back without moving.
