Untitled Gray and Mauve — Fine Art

Two soft colour bands sit on the sheet in Untitled Gray and Mauve - 1969. A gray field rests over a mauve field, and the tones fade into each other instead of meeting at a hard line.

The fine art print uses a matte surface, so the gray and mauve stay even and there is no shine when light hits the sheet. A dark frame on a pale wall keeps the two bands set apart, while a light frame on a darker wall lets the tones come forward.

It hangs low on a bedroom wall, and from the foot of the bed you see the two fields side by side. The gray band meets the mauve band in the middle, and the room stays quiet around it.
