Untitled SFP94-137 SFF 1807 — Fine Art

Untitled SFP94-137 SFF 1807 opens on a pale area where thin colour spreads leave room around them. The paint stays on the surface in open shapes. Sam Francis worked with these loose washes in his abstract watercolour practice and his colour field painting practice.

The fine art print comes ready to hang. The sheet arrives ready to hang with a metal hanger fitted to the back that goes straight onto a nail or screw. No separate frame to buy. For this image the hanger keeps the open washes level so the pale field stays even on the wall.

On a quiet landing wall the pale bands show from the stair turn. Step closer and the thin edges of the washes come into view. The light from the upstairs hall falls across the surface without glare.
