Untitled SFP94-143 SFF 1813 — Fine Art

Untitled SFP94-143 SFF 1813 opens on a pale ground where thin colour washes spread out and leave open space around them.

The paint stays light on the surface, with wider fields of blue and red laid in soft bands. Sam Francis worked with fluid paint that spreads across the sheet in loose layers, and this fine art print keeps that movement on a matte sheet.

The frame finish can follow the room, so a light frame sits on a dark wall or a dark frame rests on a pale wall, and a wood frame can sit beside wooden furniture. It works well on a kitchen wall above the sink, where the open ground stays calm and the small colour bands read clearly from the counter.
