Untitled T1982-H12 - 1982 shows thin lines and scraped marks on a pale ground. The shapes tend toward the left side, with small spots of ink beside the longer strokes. Hans Hartung worked with fast gestures on this picture, letting the tool marks stay visible.

The fine art print keeps the surface matte, so the light grey lines do not reflect a lamp and the scraped spots stay soft. A dark frame on a pale wall lets the pale ground sit back, while a light frame on a darker wall lifts the thin strokes forward.

It fits a study wall, hung a little high so the long strokes run past the desk edge. From the door the grey field reads as one calm shape, and closer you see the small ink spots and the uneven ends of each line.
