Various Cakes — Fine Art

Various Cakes - 1981 by Wayne Thiebaud sets a row of cakes in a line across the page. Each cake has a smooth top and a darker edge underneath. The paint sits in thick layers with clear outlines around every shape.

You get the fine art print with a hanger already on the back. A white frame gives the picture a clean edge on the wall. The white border keeps the colours inside the frame and makes the painted outlines easier to read. A wood finish would warm the grey ground.

Above a kitchen sink the cakes read as a row of desserts at the back of a counter. From the doorway you see the row of tops first, then the darker lines under each one.
