Vase of Flowers 8 — Fine Art

Petals and stems crowd a glass vase in this flower study. The artist fills the page with loose colour patches and faint charcoal lines. Odilon Redon often worked with pastels and charcoal for plant subjects, and this fine art print follows that same method.

The frame finish can follow the room. A light frame on a dark wall lets the flower colours stand out without glare. A wood frame beside wooden furniture keeps the print from standing apart. The print hangs on a bedroom wall at shoulder height near the bed.

From the doorway you see the vase first, then the small pencil lines on the stems. The room stays calm because the picture does not shout. You notice the white petals against the grey ground from the foot of the bed.
