About this work
The title What a Human Being Is 1910 points to a simple drawing of a person seen front on. The body stands with arms loose and the head turned slightly to one side. Thin lines mark the shoulders and the outline of the face.
You get the fine art print with a hanger already on the back. The print sits on matte paper so the pencil like lines stay steady under a ceiling light. A dark frame on a pale wall keeps the drawing easy to read from across the room.
On a long hallway wall hung at eye level, the figure draws the eye down the corridor. From the kitchen doorway you notice the closed chest and the quiet head shape, and the light from the window falls across the paper without glare.
