White Squares — Fine Art

White Squares by Lee Krasner opens on a field of hard edged forms. The picture holds a few squares of off white and grey set against a muted ground. The shapes stay separate and do not blend into one another. Broad strokes of paint sit beside the flat colour blocks.

This fine art print sits on the wall above eye height in a room with little glare. A matte surface keeps the light greys quiet when a lamp falls on it.

On a kitchen wall above the sink the hard squares break up the busy work of cooking. From the table you see the flat colour blocks, and from the doorway the grey field reads as a solid band.
