About this work
Yarralumla - 1932 reads as blocks of colour laid across a flat ground. Across the room the blocks stay clear and the edges stay firm. Up close you can see the handled brushwork of Grace Cossington Smith. The picture uses broad colour bands and a simple layout.
You get the fine art print with a hanger already on the back. The paper is matte, so the colour stays even and does not shine under a lamp. A light frame on a dark wall keeps the blocks easy to read, and a dark frame on a pale wall does the same.
It hangs on a hallway wall with a single bulb above it. From the door you see the broad colour bands, and near the middle you see the handled brushwork. Grace Cossington Smith worked with handled brushwork in Australian modernism.
