About this work
Yellow and Red Brushstrokes 1966 shows broad painted strokes crossing the sheet in two strong colours. The marks sit over a plain ground and the edges stay sharp.
The fine art print comes ready to hang. You can read the picture from the far end of a room, then step nearer to see the paint handling on each stroke. The artist built his work with bold flat colour and heavy outlines, a method tied to pop art printing and graphic image making.
A dark frame on a pale wall lets the red strokes stand out without pulling the eye away from the surface. The print hangs well on the dining room wall above the sideboard, where the yellow and red marks catch the evening light from the side.
