Xavier Martinez

Xavier Martinez was a Mexican-American painter and one of the first significant California modernists, celebrated for his Symbolist portraits, landscapes, and figure studies rendered with rich, Whistlerian tonality. A student of Whistler in Paris, he brought European Symbolism to the California art scene.
