Icon — Fine Art

Icon by Sam Gilliam shows a single shape set against a plain field of colour. The form reads clearly from across the hall, then breaks into small changes in tone when you stand near the picture. Sam Gilliam worked with colour field painting and often let one mark carry the whole surface.

This is a fine art print set in a frame with a back panel. The paper has a matte finish, so the colour stays even and there is no shine under a light. When the ready to hang option is used, the frame arrives assembled.

In a kitchen with pale cabinets, the shape gives a quiet point on the wall near the table. From the doorway you see the colour first, then the outline of the shape as you step closer.
