Simplon Pass Chalets by John Singer Sargent

Simplon Pass Chalets by John Singer Sargent places a cluster of alpine houses against a wide mountain slope. The buildings are simple and tightly grouped. Cool greens and greys fill the ground and sky. Up close the paint marks break into short strokes.

The fine art print comes ready to hang. A metal hanger is fitted to the back. It goes straight onto a nail or screw. The matte paper holds the cool mountain tones without shine. For the picture, the flat surface keeps the paint strokes clear and the stone colours even.

Hang it in a stairwell beside the bottom step. From the landing you notice the chalets first and the mountain flats after. The cool tones sit calm against the wood banister. The metal hanger hides behind the top edge.
