About this work
A painted tree form rises from the lower edge of the sheet in Tree 1941. The lines are thin and uneven, the kind of drawn stroke Alexander Calder used when he worked on paper. The ground is plain, so the marks stay separate and you can follow each branch.
The fine art print keeps the grey tones soft because the paper has a matte surface. On a dark wall the frame looks lighter, and on a pale wall it reads darker. You can also pair it with a wood frame beside wooden furniture.
In a narrow hallway above the door the tree form catches the light from the hall lamp. The branches turn gently as you pass, and the plain ground stays calm behind them.
