Untitled - 1958 shows a plain field with a few black marks placed across the paper. The marks sit apart from each other, leaving open space between them. Will Barnet often worked this way, using measured lines on a quiet ground.

The paper is matte, so the black lines stay soft and there is no shine under a lamp. The frame finish can follow the room, a light frame on a dark wall, a dark frame on a pale wall, or a wood frame beside wooden furniture. This fine art print keeps the drawing simple.

It sits on a narrow wall in a hallway between two doors. From there you notice the wide gaps between the marks and the clean field behind them. The marks stay still. The space beside them stays open.
