Alfred Manessier was a French abstract painter deeply influenced by his Catholic faith, creating luminous stained-glass-like works that evoke spiritual light and contemplation. He was a leading figure of the Ecole de Paris and won the Grand Prize at the 1962 Venice Biennale.
